Mondays are a Mindset - Creating a self-care routine that works for you.

Have You ever wondered why people make such a big deal about Monday mornings? Mondays can be tough but so can any other day of the week.  Many of us dread the sound of an alarm clock.  An alarm clock sound can feel like the starting gun of a race you’re not quite ready to run. But what if we could change that narrative? What if we could transform the start of the week from a dreaded hurdle into a launchpad for success and happiness? The hatred for Monday can be changed, it is just a change in your mindset and a regular self-care routine.
Self-Care=Balanced
If you’re like me you probably thought of Self-care as a weekend treat, or when you have a break from your demanding schedule, but Self-care’s power shines through when we integrate it into our daily lives—especially at the start of your week. It sets the tone for the days to come and can significantly impact our mood, energy levels, and productivity.
Get your Mind Right
Starting the week with a self-care routine can clear the mind and shake off the remnants of the weekend. For me mediation and journaling help to clear my mind. Whether it’s meditation, journaling, or a simple breathing exercise, taking time to center yourself can lead to greater focus and a sharper mind.
Get Moving
Engaging in physical activity, be it a yoga session or a brisk walk, can wake up the body and prepare it for the physical demands of the week. It boosts circulation, enhances mobility, and releases endorphins, which can improve your mood. Remember that time you went for a walk and returned home feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world.  Yes! Fresh air and sunlight can help you achieve that feeling.
Get Balanced
Self-care routines can also serve as an emotional check-in. They allow us to assess our feelings and set positive intentions for the week. This practice can help in managing stress and fostering a sense of inner peace.
Get Productive
When we take care of ourselves, we’re better equipped to handle the challenges that come our way. A self-care routine can lead to improved concentration and a more efficient workflow, making us more productive. Trust me on this
Get A Routine
Your self-care routine can be personalized.  What works for one person might not work for another. Here are some tips to create a routine that resonates with you:
  • Identify what relaxes you: Is it reading, gardening, or perhaps painting? Incorporate activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
  • Set realistic goals: Don’t overburden your morning with activities. Choose one or two that fit comfortably into your schedule.
  • Be consistent: Try to stick to your routine. Consistency is key to forming habits that last.
  • Reflect and adjust: Take time to reflect on your routine and adjust as needed. What’s important is that it serves your wellbeing.
I am grateful for the moments of quiet check-ins and me time.  By embracing self-care at the start of the week, we empower ourselves to face whatever lies ahead with resilience and grace. It’s not just about indulgence; it’s about setting ourselves up for success in every aspect of our lives. So, this Monday, hit the snooze button on stress and wake up to wellness. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you for it.
